W. Dwight Smith, 81, North Manchester, IN died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. He was born at Chicago, IL on February 8, 1928 to William Harlan & Frances (Sheller) Smith. On June 3, 1951 he married Janice Hoff. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Jeff (Maureen) Smith, North Manchester, IN; a grandson, William Sean Smith, Orlando, FL. One brother, E. Stanley Smith (Jean) Smith, North Manchester, IN; four sisters, Pauline Delk, Dorothy (Jim) Mason, Shirley (Jim) Mishler, all of North Manchester, IN and Maureen Weaver, Tucson, AZ. A sister-in-law, Joanna Smith, North Manchester,IN. One brother and one sister are deceased. Dwight was a pastor with the Church of the Brethren for 9 years and pastor at Pine Creek Disciples of Christ Church, Pine Creek, IL for 6 years. He taught junior high school literature and language arts in Dixon, IL for 22 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Manchester Collge, past preident of Rock River (IL) Division of NEA. He was a member of the Sea-Going Cowboys with Heifer Project International. SERVICES WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2009 AT 2:30 P.M. IN TIMBERCREST CHAPEL, 2201 EAST STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAY CALL ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. Pastor Kurt Borgamnn will officiate and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. For those who wish to honor the memory of W.
