Duane E. Piper, 84, North Manchester, IN died at 7:21 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born October 21, 1930 in South Whitley, IN to Walter Ray & Ethel M. (Bentz) Piper. He graduated from Central High School in 1950. Duane served in the US Army from 1948-1968 and after retirement from his military career he was employed in various management positions with Kroger Co., from 1968-1988. On July 3, 1980 he married Joyce Drotch. She died May 21, 2013. He was a member of American Legion Post #286 and Moose Lodge #1518 both of North Manchester, IN. He was a member of Sycamore Golf Club where he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and old movies. He is survived by one step son, Mark Drotch, North Manchester, IN; one step daughter, Cindy (Donald) Cook, Fort Lauderdale, FL; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Aughinbaugh, Columbia City, IN; two brothers, V. Ray (Rosemary) Piper, North Manchester, IN and Max (Sue) Piper, North Manchester, IN; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One son, Mike Aughinbaugh, and one brother, Paul Piper, are deceased. Family and friends may call Friday, August 28, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Benjamin Bolin will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
