Dorthy Maire Blocher

Dorthy Marie Blocher, North Manchester, formerly of South Whitley, left her earthly home on March 10, 2023, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 14 days. She died in the home of her nephew and his wife, Phillip and Melissa Metzger, where she made her home and was cared for by them and their children since March 2021. Dorthy was born December 14, 1937, to the late Walter Leon and Tressie Amelia (Yoder) Blocher Sr. in Warsaw, Indiana.

On July 18, 1953, Dorthy decided to turn her life to the Lord and was baptized into the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, where she remained faithful to the Lord. She began her working career at Heckman Bindery for six years before becoming employed with Eaton Controls for forty-four years before retiring when they closed. Dorthy was also an antiques dealer for over thirty-five years, which allowed her to travel, a perk of the job that she greatly enjoyed.

Dorthy leaves behind three siblings, Dan Blocker, North Manchester, Walter (Tana) Blocher, Pierceton, and Eileen (Bill) Cahill, Colfax, IN; brothers-in-law, Phil Metzger, Claypool, and David Wolf, Rossville; stepmother, Marie Blocher Baker, Rossville; twenty-nine nephews and nieces; and many great nephews and great nieces and their children. Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Anita Blocher; sister and brother-in-law, Rosadella and Richard Miller; sisters, Donna Metzger and Joy Wolf; sister-in-law, Michelle Blocker; great niece, Alexis Avery; and great nephew, Zachary Caldwell; and dear friend Richard Lancaster.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2128 East 1200 South, Silver Lake, Indiana, with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will be at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.

The family has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
