Dorothy L. (Warner) Watson, 92, North Manchester, IN died at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born in Wabash County, Indiana on July 29, 1918 to Jesse & Nona (Mishler) Blickenstaff. On August 29, 1940 she married T. Gene Warner. He died April 27, 1990. On April 17, 1994 she married Joe F. Watson. He died April 15, 2007. Surviving are three sons, Jay (Linda) Warner, North Manchester, IN; Joe (Linda) Warner, South Bend, IN; Jan (Sue) Warner, Plymouth, IN. One daughter, Joy (Robert) Stiffler, North Manchester, IN. Two step daughters, Janet (Richard) Magsig, Dansville, MI and Sally (David) Green, Findlay, OH. Eleven grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, five step grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Two sisters, Kathryn Metzger, Akron, IN and Esther Miller, Pierceton, IN. Dorothy graduated from Chester High School at North Manchester. She received her BS degree from Manchester College and her MS degree from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne. She attended Goshen College, Butler University, IPFW and IU for additional education. She taught at North Webster, South Whitley and retired from Wabash Metropolitan Schools as a coordinating librarian and reading specialist. She helped organize 13 school libraries and was active in school librarian organizations. She attended Manchester Church of the Brethren, was active in Retired Teachers Associations, Jackson Junior Home Demonstration Club and was a Sunday school teacher. Following her retirement, Dorothy volunteered at South Whitley Elementary School and did tutoring at Adult Learning Center, Warsaw, IN. Services will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306 Beckley Street, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the church. Pastor Karen Eberly and Pastor Jamie Stiffler will offictae and burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
