Dorothy B. Gable, 87, North Manchester, IN died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born July 31, 1923 in Huntington County, IN to Dr. Raymond & Haldes (Sundland) Gurley. She graduated from Roanoke (IN) High School in 1941 and attended Ball State University. On November 14, 1943 she married Donald K. Gable. He died February 5, 2011. Dorothy was a homemaker and co-owner, bookkeeper and secretary of Eagle Farms, retiring in 1993. She was a charter member of Timbercrest Auxiliary for many years, serving as president for 5 years. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, a member of Business Professional Women of North Manchester, where she was the first farm woman accepted in the organization, an active member of Tri-Kappa, North Manchester, IN, member of Women's Circle of Manchester Church of the Brethren for years, a member of National Camper and Hikers Association, active in the Huntington County Historical Society and the Indiana Archeological Society. She traveled to all 50 states and to Europe. Her father was a federal veterinarian in Roanoke, IN. Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Judy) Gable, Elkhart, IN and Norman (Laura) Gable, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Rita Gable, Denver, CO; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two grandchildren and two sisters are deceased. Joint service for Donald and Dorothy Gable will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Timbercrest Assembly Room, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. Friends may call at the assembly rrom from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011. Burial will be at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.
