Doris S. Beck

Doris S. Beck, 85, North Manchester, IN died at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 in her residence. She was born March 30, 1926 at McMillville, TN to Luther & Myrtle (Patterson) Smith. On August 25, 1947 she married Joe L. Pence. He died October 16, 1972. On December 20, 1975 she married James R. Beck. He died June 9, 1993. Surviving are a son, Sam (Sandra) Pence, North Manchester, IN. Two daughters, Sheryl (Wayne) Hackworth and Carolyn Lambert, both of North Manchester, IN. Doris was a homemaker and lifelong livestock farmer. She also operated the Westside Drive-In at North Manchester in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Later she was a waitress at Little Richard's Restaurant and a bartender at the Moose Lodge, both at North Manchester. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing bingo. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Doris S.
