David F. Longanecker

David F. Longanecker, 70, North Manchester, IN died at 8:44 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born September 22, 1943 at Youngstown, OH to Elwood J. & Lillian L. (Allison) Longanecker. They are deceased. David graduated from Columbiana (OH) High School and from Manchester College in 1967. There he earned a BS degree in Sociology and Physical Education. He played in numerous semi-pro baseball leagues and was the official timer for Manchester High School cross-country program for many years. For three years he taught Junior Achievement at Wabash High School. He was active in promoting organ donation and counseling recipients. He retired from North Central Co-op/Country Mark Co-Op, Wabash, IN in 2001 after 36 years. David was active in Brethren Way of Christ for many years and a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester, IN. On September 10, 1966 he married Gerri L. Herndon. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, J.D. Longanecker, North Manchester, IN; Jacob A. (Sarah) Longanecker, North Manchester, IN. A daughter, Krishna D. (Jeff Ferranti) Longanecker, Springfield, MA. Six grandchildren, Andrew J. Longanecker, Ashlyn L. Longanecker, Carter A. Ferranti, Alexander D. Ferranti, Landon D. Longanecker and Ethan M. Longanecker. Three sisters, Bonnie Rogers, Columbiana, OH; Arlene Sloan, North Lima, OH and Marilee (David) Bodendorfer, Columbiana, OH. One brother, Arlen Longanecker and four grandchildren are deceased. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First Brethren Church, 407 N. Sycamore Street, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate. Friends and family may call on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. For those who wish to honor the memory of David F.
