Cpt. John F. Hoffman, Retired, 85 North Manchester, IN died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born January 20, 1930 in Wiconisco, PA to James W. & Emily Francis (McNeal) Hoffman. On June 27, 1958 he married Ella Louise Evans, she survives. John is also survived by his two sons James Hoffman, Lykens, PA and Bradley (Nancy) Hoffman, Pottsville, PA; three daughters, Colleen (Jay) Umbenhouer, Millersburg, PA, Janelle (Dwain) Messersmith, Pottsville, PA, and Susan (Curtis) Stephan, Goshen, IN; one step-son Frederick (Brenda) Stone, Tower City, PA. He retired from the US Army in 1993 after 24 years as Captain. He served during WWII and Korea. He and his wife owned and operated Aqua Analytical from 1980-2000. They tested residential and city water. He and his wife also managed the Fellowship of Churches Thrift Shop in North Manchester for 6 years. He was a member of Liberty Mills Community Church, Liberty Mills, IN, American Legion Post #286, North Manchester, IN and Indiana Fraternal Order of Police. There will be no calling or services.
