Charles W. Betten, 88, North Manchester, IN died at 12:25 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born March 24, 1928 in Gridley, IL to Charlie & Nora (Finck) Betten. He graduated from Washington Center High School, Whitley County, IN. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII. On August 27, 1950 he married Janice Shaffer. She died August 1, 2006. Charles was a retired farmer and a life member of the American Legion #286, North Manchester, IN, a member of the Eel River Masonic Lodge #510, a member of Knights Templar, Huntington, IN, life member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honor and a life member of the WWII Memorial Society. He loved singing and playing the piano. He is survived by his companion, Norma Weeda, Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Becky (Jason) Krampton, Valparaiso, IN and Kathy (Jeffrey) Smith, North Manchester, IN; grandchildren, Angela Fellars, Melissa McKillip & Michael Rodriguez and five great grandchildren. One son, Jeffrey L. Betten, died March 19, 1977. Family & friends may call Monday, July 18, 2016 from noon-2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Graveside services Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. For those who wish to honor the memory of Charles W.
