Catherine P. Zile

Catherine P. "Kate" Zile, 91, formerly of Silver Lake, IN went home to her Heavenly Father at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born August 31, 1918, in Fredericktown, Ohio to Clarence & Florence (Syler) Grubb. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1936 and attended Manchester College. She married Lowell B. Zile on October 17, 1942. She was a long-time resident of Silver Lake, IN until moving to Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester in 2006. She is survived by her husband, Lowell B. Zile; two sons, Dan (Beth) Zile, Wentzville, MO and Phil (Debbie) Zile, Silver Lake, IN. Nine grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren. A sister, Rita (Charles) Surland, Sacramento, CA; sisters-in-law, Jean (Grubb) Renschler, North Manchester, IN; Betty (Dean) Zile, Monticello, IN; brother-in-law; Gene Engel, Indianapolis, IN. Catherine is predeceased by her parents, sisters, Maxine Grubb, Carole (Grubb) Engel, Bernese (Grubb) Kinney and a brother, Dwight Grubb. Mrs. Zile worked for 16 years for Dr. P.H. Pierson at his Silver Lake and Warsaw offices. She then served as a medical transcriptionist for the former Murphy Medical Center and later Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was a long-time member of the Center United Methodist Church, Silver Lake, IN, member of Ladies of the Lake Home-Economics Club, secretary-treasurer for over 25 years of the Lakeview Cemetery at Silver Lake. She helped initiate and coordinate the Mobile Meals for the Silver Lake area. She was known as a very proud caring and compassionate woman and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in South Pleasant United Methodist Church, State Road 15 and C.R. 1400N, (three miles south of Silver Lake, IN). Rev. Sue Babovec and Pastor Terry Marker will officiate and burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 4 - 8 p.m. at South Pleasant United Methodist Church. Final arrangements have been entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Catherine P.
