Carl "Dude" Helton, 76, of Silver Lake, IN died at 11:21 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 in his residence. He was born August 10, 1934 in Prestonsburg, KY to John & Myrtle (Hale) Helton. On September 12, 1981 he married Sylvia J. Charles. He served in the Army in Korea and retired from Dalton Foundry, Warsaw, IN after 42 years. He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, IN and an active volunteer at the Silver Lake Food Pantry. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia J. Helton, Silver Lake, IN; one son, Robert (Teresa) Goble, Silver Lake, IN; four brothers, John Helton, North Manchester, IN, Fred (Lourena) Helton, Warsaw, IN, Don (Janet) Helton, Silver Lake, IN, Ellis (Mary) Helton, Silver Lake, IN; Two sisters, Elsie Dotson, Prestonsburg, KY & Emma Slone, Silver Lake, IN; one foster grandson, Brett Allen Kepler, Bourbon, IN and several nieces & nephews. One brother, James Helton, and two sisters, Irene Phillips & Thelma Hicks, are deceased. Services Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 303 S. Jefferson Street, Silver Lake, IN. Friends and family may call Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
