C. Eugene Howard

C. Eugene Howard, 94, North Manchester, IN died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born at Howard County, Indiana on November 1, 1917 to Orville E. & A. Brendice (Currens) Howard. He graduated from Lagro High School in 1935 and on November 4, 1939 he married Geraldine C. Blickenstaff. She died May 4, 2010. Gene earned a B.S. degree in elementary education from Manchester College in 1966 and his Masters degree from St. Francis University in 1971. He was a elementary teacher with Manchester Community Schools for 15 years retiring in 1981. He was also a retired farmer and a United States Army veteran of WW II. Faithful to his family and to his Lord and Savior who he loved, worshipped and served. Surviving are two sons, Ted E. (Joselyn) Howard, Delphi, IN and Todd M. (Renee) Howard, Evans, CO. Two daughters, Connie J. (John) Bowman, Leo, IN and Cathie (Claude) Markstahler, North Manchester, IN. A daughter-in-law, Linda Howard, Auburn, IN. Three brothers, Max E. Howard, Greentown, IN; Orville E. Howard Jr., Frankfort, IN and Joseph L. Howard, Roann, IN. A sister, Patricia A. (Andrew) Young, Wabash, IN. Twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Four sisters are deceased. Services will be held Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in United Methodist Church, 306 E. Second Street, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Thursday, August 30, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Rev. Kevin DeKoninck will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of C.
