Brett A. Tracy

March 22, 1962 — October 22, 2021

South Whitley

Brett A. Tracy, 59, South Whitley, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  The son of Arthur Russell and Edna L. (Coldren) Tracy, Brett was born on March 22, 1962, in Warsaw, Indiana.

Brett graduated from Manchester High School in 1980 and from Vincennes University in 1983, where he studied construction. He began working at Invensys/Controls in 1984, where he was employed until 2005. In 2007 Brett began driving truck delivering campers for D&T Transport in Goshen, Indiana. He worked there until he was in a motorcycle wreck in 2018.

On May 17, 2008, Brett married the love of his life, Dawn Kilander. The couple fit a lifetime of memories and love into their thirteen years of marriage. Ultimately, Brett’s life was about helping people in various ways. He was caring, compassionate, and had an enormous heart for serving others. He used his passion for motorcycles to honor those who died before him. Brett was a member of the Indiana Patriot Guard, American Legion Post 286 and Family Fraternity Moose Lodge 1518, both of North Manchester, American Veterans Post 2919, South Whitley, the Wabash Hog Group, where he served as director for seven years, and ABATE of Indiana, where he was a motorcycle instructor for three years. Brett performed many selfless acts within these organizations, such as delivering Christmas presents for Operation Elf, to those in the Wabash County area, delivering Thanksgiving dinners for the Silver Lake Lions club, honoring veterans, and helping kids.

Brett was a thoughtful person who loved to visit with others. Brett seemed to know someone no matter where he went and had the ability to talk to anyone about anything. He enjoyed travel bowling with the Moose, golfing, dart league, and teaching people to ride motorcycles.

The loving memory of Brett A. Tracy will be forever cherished by his wife Dawn Tracy, South Whitley; daughter, Daisha (Brian Sauerhage) Kilander, Oconto Falls, Wisconsin; brothers, Larry (Joan) Tracy, Costa Mesa, California, and Richard (Ann) Tracy, North Manchester, Indiana; sisters, Patricia Allen, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shelly (Tracy) Gilliland, Warsaw, Indiana, Debbie Tracy, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Carol (Fred) Haw, Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the Barn Bunch family. Brett was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Russell and Edna Tracy; one infant brother; and one sister Linda Werking.
