Billy J. Spann, 87, North Manchester, IN died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born February 17, 1925 in Whitley County, IN to Jesse L. & Odessa (Spitler) Spann. He graduated from Chester High School in 1943 and was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. On August 5, 1951 he married Martha J. Elliott. She died December 22, 2003. Bill worked for his brother, Maynard Spann at the Pierceton Lumber Co. and was later manager of Miller & Sons Lumber Co., Pierceton, IN. Upon its closure he was transferred to Miller & Sons Lumber Co. at Silver Lake, IN where he was building estimator until his retirement. He enjoyed his grandchildren, reading and classical music. Bill is survived by three sons, Thomas J. (Sherrie) Spann, Peter E. (Lisa) Spann and Joel K. (Rhonda) Spann all of North Manchester, IN; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Tanya) Moyer and Mrs. Jeff (Julie) Walters, both of North Manchester, IN; one brother, Phil (Carol) Spann, North Manchester, IN; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. Family and friends may call Friday, September 21, 2012 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church. Services Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, 103 N. Third Street, Liberty Mills, IN. Pastor Erin Huiras will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Billy J. Spann, memorial contributions may be made to North Manchester Public Library, 405 N.
