Beverly Jeanne Cook, 79, North Manchester, embraced Jesus on October 27, 2023. The daughter of Douglas Murl and Anna Elizabeth (Wolf) Hammonds, Beverly was born on June 22, 1944 in Huntington, Indiana.
After graduating from Manchester High School in 1962, Beverly married Everett Jay Cook on June 29, 1963. The love they shared for Jesus Christ was ever present in their relationship. Beverly lived her life for the Lord and spread the Word of God to those who wanted to hear it. She was uplifting, encouraging, and wanted the best for humanity. She rarely talked about herself, instead focusing on others. Beverly respected people and was understanding and nonjudgmental. She spent an hour daily sending encouraging messages to others. Simply put, she made those around her feel good about themselves. She attended West Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church New Conference, and she faithfully dialed in when her health wouldn’t allow her to attend in-person.
Everett and Beverly were blessed with six children, each of whom she loved dearly. She also ensured she had a special connection with each child. Though Beverly’s job as a homemaker was not an easy task, she did it beautifully with grace and love. She enjoyed communicating with her family every day and genuinely wanted to know how they were doing. A devoted grandmother, Beverly took the same love and care she had for her children and passed it on to her grandchildren.
The loving memory of Beverly Cook will be forever cherished by her husband of sixty years, Everett Cook, North Manchester; daughter, Debra Elizabeth (Michael) Slothour, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; sons, David Matthew (Ida) Cook, Pasco, Washington, Michael Andrew (Rebecca) Cook, North Manchester, Aaron Douglas (Michelle) Cook, Indianapolis, Laban Daniel (Deanna Mettler) Cook, Denver, Colorado, and Marcus Nathaniel Cook, Bozeman, Montana; sister, Roberta Ann Dials, Laketon; stepbrother, Carlis (Kelly) Faurot, Hiawatha, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beverly was preceded in death by her father and mother, Douglas Hammonds and Anna Hammonds Faurot; stepfather, Norval Faurot Jr.; brother, Dr. Lynn Wesley Hammonds; stepsister and stepbrother-in-law, Martina and Ray Chupp; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and a niece.
