Betty Lee Engelman, 93, Peru, IN died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 4:30 a.m. in her residence. She was born at Wabash, Indiana on September 11, 1919 to James Harley & Abby E. (Grist) Garner. On June 17, 1947 she married Marvin B. Engelman. He died May 12, 2007. Betty worked at Wagners in Wabash 27 years retiring in 1985 and was a volunteer at the Marion V.A. Hospital for 17 years. She had previously worked for the A & W Drive-In and Central Cafe, both at Wabash, IN. She was a wonderful cook and her family looked foward to her homemade noodles. Surviving are a son, Allen (Connie) Bitzell, Greentown, IN; four daughters, Mary (Gerry) Field, Peru, IN; Susan (Ray) Wyatt, Upland, IN; Chloe (Bob) Hettmansperger, Wabash, IN and Peggy (Robin) King, Macy, IN. One daughter, Eleanor Louise Bitzell is deceased. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. 4 brothers and 6 sisters are deceased. She was a lifelong Wabash County resident until 2009, when she went to live with her daughters in Miami County. Services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, October 30, from 12 - 2 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate and burial will follow at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
