Betty J. Bumgardner, 88, North Manchester, IN died Friday, March 21, 2014 at her son's residence in Kokomo, IN. She was born August 21, 1925 in Huntington County, IN to Arthur Royal & Clara Belle (McNalley) Elsasser. She graudtaed from Huntington High School in 1943 and on August 30, 1946 she married Bennie F. Bumgardner. He died October 7, 1992. Betty had worked at Bryan Manufacturing for 5 years and in 1965 went to work at Peabody Seating Co., where she worked until it's closing. She then worked at several fast food restaurants in the North Manchester area. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed quilting, and attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. Surviving are three sons, William R. (Judy K.) Bumgardner, Kokomo, IN; Jack W. (Henrietta) Bumgardner, Sidney, IN; James L. (Donna) Bumgardner, Angola, IN. One son, Bennie Bumgardner Jr. died in 1972. Eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Three sisters, Katherine DeLaughter, Huntington, IN; Maxine Ungerer, Cleveland, OH; Mildred Binder, Huntington, IN. One sister, Mae Lynn and one brother, Arthur Elsasser are deceased. Services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, March 25 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Betty J. Bumgardner, memorial contributions may be made to Manchester Early Learning Center or Animal Shelter of Wabash County, 810 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN 46992.
