Avon Mckee

Avon McKee, 74, North Manchester, IN died at 5:19 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. She was born Janaury 2, 1938 in Greeley, CO to William Alonzo & Hazel Marie (Hammonds) McFarland. She graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, IN class of 1956. On July 28, 1957 she married Thomas N. McKee. After high school graduation and marriage she was a Switchboard Operator for General Telephone and later was an Assistant Activity Director, Nursing Assistant and QMA at Peabody Retirement Communty, North Manchester, IN. After her retirement from Peabody, her love for children took her to babysitting in her home. She was a member and taught Sunday School at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester, IN. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed working puzzles and had an infectious laugh. She is survived by her husband, Thomas N. McKee, North Manchester, IN; three daughters, Serita (Dean) Mithoefer, Indianapolis, IN, Joy (Bradford) Wagner, Columbia City, IN and Ginger McKee, North Manchester, IN; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother, William "Bill" Laverne McFarland, one half sister, June Oswalt and one great grandchild are deceased. Family and friends may call Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Ladona Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN at a later date.
