Anna E. Hammonds-Faurot, 97, North Manchester, passed away on January 22, 2020 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. Born September 30, 1922 in Urbana, Indiana, Anna was the daughter of George Edward and Estella (Hipskind) Wolf.
Anna graduated from Urbana High School in 1940. After graduating, Anna married Douglas M. “Murl” Hammonds on October 12, 1940. He passed away on August 16, 1962 after 21 year of marriage. Seven years later, she was lucky enough to find love again and married Norval Faurot Jr. on October 25, 1969. Norval passed away on July 24, 2005.
Anna volunteered at Peabody Retirement Community since 1987 for many years. She worked at Indiana Lawrence Bank in bookkeeping and as a vault attendant for 23 years and retired in 1985. Anna was very accepting and welcoming of all people, even in the difficult times of losing her husbands, son, Dr. Lynn W. Hammonds, step-daughter, Martina Chupp and her husband Ray Chupp, a grandchild, great-grandchild, and great-great grandchild. She had an adventurous spirit that was full of spunk and energy. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and puzzles that she framed and mounted on the walls of her house on Beckley Street. She was always willing to learn new things including electronics and her iPad. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. Anna was a member of the Ivy Chapter #69 Order of Eastern Star and was the past president of Business & Professional Women and Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.
The loving memory of Anna Hammonds-Faurot will be forever cherished by her daughters, Roberta Dials, Laketon, Indiana and Beverly (Everett) Cook, North Manchester; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hammonds, Indianapolis, Indiana; step-son, Carlis (Kelly) Faurot, near Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Dr. Lynn W Hammonds; one step-daughter, Martina Chupp and step-son-in-law, Ray Chupp; four brothers, John, Walter, Elmer, and Robert Wolf; two sisters, Mary Stratton and Helen Hardman; one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and one great great-grandchild.
Family and friends may call, Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor Larry Ray and Pastor Kent Harting officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester.
