With fragile hearts we share that Amy Leanne Fry-Miller of Wabash, Indiana, age 42, passed away on February 26, 2025. She was born March 6, 1982 in Fort Wayne to Paul and Kathy Fry-Miller.
Amy was truly a citizen of the world and beloved by so many whose lives she touched. Serving others was her calling in life.
As a young girl Amy attended intercultural magnet arts schools in Fort Wayne. She graduated from Manchester College in Peace Studies and Spanish, having spent a year in Xalapa, Mexico. Amy later completed a Massage Therapy degree at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne.
After college, she worked at Kosciusko County Head Start with Spanish speaking families in their Parents as Teachers program.
Amy lived at the Garchen Buddhist Institute in Arizona for eight years. There she studied and practiced with Tibetan Lamas and her Buddhist community. She served as an assistant manager, head chef, and chant master, doing regular meditation retreats and prayers for world peace.
When Amy became a Massage Therapist (Peru, IN), licensed and nationally certified, she served her clients with compassion and sensitivity.
She especially enjoyed gardening, camping, kayaking, hiking, music, and game nights with family and friends. Amy participated in many service and learning trips as well as other travels to 12 countries and 48 states. Amy has always befriended international guests, exchange students, immigrant families, and friends from many cultural backgrounds.
She contributed to the world community with her kind heart and welcoming approach to life. She was deeply committed to service and making the world a better place. She spoke out against injustice and violence and was a friend to all. Her service work included Habitat for Humanity, Church of the Brethren work camps, Sister Church delegations, FW Dance Collective C.A.P. on violence program, blood donations. Her most recent gift was donating her brain for research.
Amy received her diagnosis of brain cancer 22 months ago. She and Brett made the decision to get married even knowing that they were facing tough and tender times. They enjoyed a wonderful trip to Hawaii earlier last year and had a beautiful wedding May 26, 2024.
Amy is tenderly remembered by her loving husband Brett Michael Shull; beloved step children Paloma Danielle, Brett Robert, and Demetri Allen Shull; parents Paul and Kathy Fry-Miller; sister Carrie Beth Fry-Miller; brother Eric Fry-Miller; grandpa Joe Mason; German-American sister Anika (Luke) MacDonald, Noah, Allie, and Max; many wonderful in-laws, extended family, and friends.
