Albert Vincent "Bart" Corricelli

February 4, 1922 — August 3, 2023

St. Petersburg, Florida

Albert Vincent “Bart” Corricelli, 101, St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of North Manchester, Indiana, passed through this life into eternal life on August 3, 2023. Born February 4, 1922, in Boston, Massachusetts, Bart was one of Gueseppe and Raffaella (Cirillo) Corricelli’s ten children. Bart’s father moved to the United States in 1902 and his mother in 1904 from Vieste, Italy.

In 1940 Bart graduated from Somerville High School and worked as a cook at a restaurant in Boston for two years before enlisting into the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country with pride for three years. During this time Bart made landings in Roi-Namur in the Marshall Islands chain, Saipan in the Mariana Islands, and the Tinian Islands, where his tank was blown up for the first time. The 4th Marine Division made their memorable landing on Iwo Jima, and Bart’s tank was blown up again. He also survived two tank bombings when he was a driver and an assistant driver of a Sherman Medical M4A1 tank. After returning home from overseas, Bart continued to support the military and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post #286, North Manchester, where he was a past Commander. Working tirelessly, he was the driving force in collecting funds for the Veteran’s Memorial Monuments located at Halderman Park and Cemetery in North Manchester. He dearly loved North Manchester and said it was the greatest town in the world.

After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Bart went to visit his Tank Commander in Huntington, Indiana, and met the love of his life, Phyllis Ream. The two wed on August 20, 1948, and spent sixty-seven wonderful years together before Phyllis passed away on August 28, 2015. Bart and Phyllis were blessed with three children, Mikel J., Patrick J., and Angela “Angie” Corricelli. For thirty-seven years, Bart worked with pride at Peabody Seating Company in North Manchester before eventually retiring. While living in North Manchester, Bart was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church where he and Phyllis practiced devoutly. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1518 in North Manchester and was an avid Notre Dame and Indiana University sports fan.

The loving memory of Bart Corricelli will be forever cherished by his children, Patrick J. (Sue) Corricelli, Peoria, Illinois, Mikel J. (Rosie) Corricelli, Nashville, Tennessee, and Angela “Angie” (Scott) Goodwin, St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren Chase, Spenser, and Halle; and great-grandchildren, Dominic and Thea. Bart was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis Corricelli; five brothers, Michael, Pasquale “Pat”, Gaetano “Guy”, Aldolfo “Porky”, and Charles “Charlie”; and four sisters, Guiseppa “Josephine”, Maria “Millie”, Elvira “Tootie”, and Lucia “Bubbles.”
