Alberta J (Martin) Giegold

December 18, 1920 — June 13, 2017

Alberta J. Giegold, 96, North Manchester, IN died at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. She was born December 18, 1920 in North Manchester, IN to Herman & Lillian (Heeter) Martin.  She graduated in 1938 from Central High School, North Manchester, IN.  On August 24, 1941 she married A. William Giegold.  He died December 27, 2001.  Alberta worked at Wing's Flower Shop and retired from Star Excavating.  She attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN where she loved to teach Sunday School.  She had a passion for remembering active duty service men thru cards and letters.  She was very actively engaged in the history of North Manchester to her final days.  She is survived by her son, Andy (Paula) Giegold, Garrett, IN; daughter, Mrs. Tom (Billie) Hedde, Camden, IN; brother-in-law, Joe Mort, Warsaw, IN; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  One daughter, Teena Markins, two brothers, John Martin and Duane Martin, and two sisters, Marilyn Mort and Alice Wilson, are deceased. Family and friends may call Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Alberta Giegold, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Valor c/o McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN 46962.
