Sherry Diane Cripe, 79, Fishers, Indiana, passed away at her home on October 17, 2023. She was born on November 1, 1943 in Goshen, IN, and graduated from Manchester High School in 1961. Sherry was married for nearly 63 years to her loving husband, John Riddle Cripe.
Sherry & John were blessed with two sons, Richard S. & Ronald D. Cripe. They raised their family on Ogden Island, and enjoyed spending time on Lake Wawasee with extended family and close friends. Later in life, Sherry & John moved to Carmel, IN where they eventually retired.
Sherry was loved for her delightful personality, warm hugs, and bright smile. Sherry exuded a sweet thoughtfulness whether it be sending you a card with a handwritten note, or giving you a simple gift to show her love for you. Sherry always enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays. Her special touches made even the simplest holidays a fun tradition for her family. A green thumb by nature, Sherry enjoyed colorful flowers, most memorable, her red & white petunias.
A caretaker at heart, Sherry also enjoyed a fulfilling work life. She held positions as an Executive Assistant at Chore-Time and Brock Bins, both in Milford, IN. She also pursued a career in real estate as a Realtor with Steffen Realty, Syracuse, IN, and eventually earned an accreditation as Principal Real Estate Broker with Century 21 Scheetz, Carmel, IN.
Sherry’s faith in Jesus Christ was active and continued to deepen throughout her life. She was a prior member of Syracuse’s Calvary United Methodist Church, Carmel’s Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church, and most recently worshipped with The Pentecostals of Westfield.
The life and love of Sherry Diane Cripe will be forever cherished by her husband, John Riddle Cripe, and her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. & Johna B. Cripe. Sherry was preceded in death by her eldest son, Richard S. Cripe; her mother & step-father, Jeanne (Stephenson) & Professor Forrest E. Reed; her father, John W. Oswald Jr.; and her brothers, James R. & Jon L. Oswald.
Sherry often talked about the positive influence the Girls Scouts of the USA had in her life during her formative years. If desired, donations can be made in her honor.
A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
The family has entrusted McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with her care and final arrangements.
