Rachel Louise Bonewitz-Corn, 72, North Manchester, passed away on November 17, 2023, at Parkview Wabash. The only child of Clifford and Viola (Hines) Fisher, Rachel was born in Rochester, Indiana, on August 23, 1951.
Rachel was a ten-year member of 4-H, where she made crafts and fashion dresses. She graduated from Akron High School in 1969 and married Michael Bonewitz on November 20, 1970. After nineteen years of marriage, Michael was tragically killed in a car accident in late 1989, leaving Rachel to raise their three children, Angela "Angie", Michael "Brad", and Andrea.
Rachel worked at Heckman Bindery in North Manchester for over twenty-five years. She also worked at Dairy Queen for a year, delivered “The Paper of Wabash County”, and was a housekeeper for Wabash County Hospital for five years, helping to ensure she could give her children everything they needed. She was a member of Lagro United Methodist Church for many years. Rachel had a young soul and loved her 1996 Camaro Z28, nicknamed “Forrest” because of its forest green color.
The loving memory of Rachel Bonewitz Corn will be forever cherished by her daughters, Angela “Angie” Bonewitz and Andrea (Ben) Eilts, both of North Manchester; son, Michael Braden “Brad” Bonewitz, Warsaw; grandchildren, Jaden Bonewitz, Warsaw, Michael Wirsing, North Manchester, Parker Eilts, North Manchester, and Rayelynn Eilts, North Manchester.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester.
