Mary Margaret (Meyer) Bowman

Mary Margaret Bowman, 78, Lebanon, Indiana, formerly of North Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2024 at her home. The daughter of the late Wilbur and Effie (Coon) Meyer, she was born at home in Servia on May 4, 1945.

After graduating from Manchester High School in 1963, Mary earned a degree from Ravenscroft Beauty College in Fort Wayne in 1964. Mary owned and operated Mary’s Cut and Style. She conversed with others while providing their beauty needs for well over fifty years, making many lifelong friends. Mary was fun-loving and at times a bit ornery. Always caring for others, she helped provide peace for many families by doing the hair of their loved ones for their funerals.

Mary was married to Jerry Benson for nineteen years, and together they shared two children, Mona and Theresa “Teri.” Though their marriage did not work out as they hoped, the two remained friends. Mary was also married to Jon Bowman for twenty years.

The loving memory of Mary Bowman will be forever cherished by her daughter, Mona (Brett) Arrick, Jamestown, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandy Dawn Barnett and John Dean Beeks; great-grandchild, Zayden Beeks; brothers, John (Sue) Meyer, Huntington and James “Jim” Meyer, Fort Wayne; and sister, Sally (Richard) Stickney, Columbia City. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Phillip Meyer and Jerry Meyer; sister, Barbara J. Nitzschke; ex-husbands, Jerry Benson and Jon Bowman; daughter, Theresa Ann “Teri” Beeks on June 27, 2008; and granddaughter, Alesha Arrick on December 7, 2017.

Family and friends may call Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McKee Mortuary 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Roann Cemetery, 6973 Roann Lukens Lake Road, Roann, Indiana.
