  • SYLVIA O. CONLEY, 53, SILVER LAKE, IN

     

    Sylvia O. Conley, 53, Silver Lake, IN died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at her residence.  She was born July 16, 1959 in Paintsville, KY to Walter & Sallie M. (Gambill) Owens. On December 24, 1976 she married Roger D. Conley.  He died July 25, 2001. She was a resident of Silver Lake, IN since November 2012 and had formerly lived in Akron, IN for 13 years.  Sylvia was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and working in her flower garden.  She is survived by one daughter, April R. (Jeff) Fuller, Akron, IN; her mother, Sallie M. Owens, Oil Springs, KY; three brothers, Billy Joe (Fannie) Owens, Oil Springs, KY, James (Anita) Owens, Oil Springs, KY and Danny (Jackie) Owens, Kentucky; two sisters, Judy (David) Mollett, Kermit, WV & Sandra Owens, Paintsville, KY and two grandchildren.  One son, Willie Dean Conley, and one brother are deceased.  Services will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Pastor Henry Arnett Jr. will officiate and burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Sylvia O.   • PHYLLIS JEAN COX, 83, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Phyllis Jean Cox, 83, North Manchester, IN died at 12:34 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.  She was born at Wabash, Indiana on April 10, 1930 to Meredith M. & Lillian Carol (Miller) Wood.  They are deceased.  On June 18, 1955 she married Charles J. "Joe" Cox.  He died April 18, 1995.  Phyllis was a homemaker and worked at General Tire at Wabash for over 30 years.  Surviving are a son, William M. (Diana K. Shepherd) Cox, North Manchester, IN.  Two granddaughters, Angela K. Cox and Linzy N. Cox, both of Warsaw, IN.  One brother, Danny (Nancy) Cox, Georgia; two sisters, Rita (David) Mueller, Dyer, IN and Patty (Jeff) Hopper, Denver, IN.  Her step mother, Mary Fawley, Wabash, IN.  Friends and family may call on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Pastor J.P.     Debra A. Christian, 60, North Manchester, IN died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 in her residence.  She was born January 12, 1953 in Columbia City, IN to Samuel & Betty Jean (Palmer) Stump.  She graduated from Wawasee High School in 1971. On October 26, 1992 she married David A. Christian.  She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mom, grandma and an avid horse lover.  She participated and helped with the Kosciusko County 4-H Horse and Pony Club for many years. Her joy was putting anybody on a horse.  She never knew a stranger.  She is survived by her husband, David A. Christian, North Manchester, IN; two sons, Tony (Erica) Martin, Virginia Beach, VA and Mark (Lindsay) Christian, Zionsville, IN; one daughter, Alexis (Fiance': Wade Shemwell) Christian, Wabash, IN; three sisters, Sue Stump, Flagstaff, AZ, Judy (David) Wolfe, Swight, IL, Sally Zentz, Vero Beach, FL and six grandchildren.  One brother, Tom Stump, and one grandchild, are deceased.   • MAX E. COBLE, 91, FORMERLY OF WABASH, IN

     

    Max E. Coble, 91, formerly of Wabash, Indiana departed this life surrounded by his loved ones at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born in Pleasant Township, Wabash County, Indiana on August 29, 1921 to John & Bertha (Metzger) Coble.  He graduated from South Whitley High School in 1940 and was a US Army veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 15, Wabash, IN.  On September 22, 1943 he married Mabel M. Hippensteel.  She survives.  Also surviving are a son, Dan R. (Marlene) Coble, Angola, IN; a daughter, Diane (Dennis) Airgood, Fort Wayne, IN.  Five grandchildren, Danya Breeden, Nia Airgood, Tricia Airgood, Christopher Coble, Kyle (Arianne) Coble.  Six great grandchildren, Russel Breeden, Drew Breeden, Airman Blaine Aponte, Mariana Aponte, Ella Coble and Ava Coble.  One great grandson and two brothers are deceased.  Max & Mabel moved to Wabash in 1943 where they raised their family.  He was an avid woodworker and excellent finishing carpenter.  He loved and cherished his family.  Services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 9  from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  David Phillips will officiate the service.  Burial and military rites will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Indiana.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Max E.   • DONNABELLE CLARK, 89, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Donnabelle Clark, 89, North Manchester, IN died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.  She was born at Wabash County, Indiana on November 19, 1923 to David E. and Myrtle (Steller) Rinehart, both deceased.  She was owner/operator of Clark's Log Cabin Restaurant, North Manchester, IN and was also employed at the Heckman Bindery for 25 years.  She married Max E. Clark on February 25, 1967.  He died February 25, 2010.  She was also preceded in death by  3 brothers and 6 sisters.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews when they were yournger.  Services will be Friday, November 23, at 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  with calling from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Pastor J.P.   • BETTY J. CLARK, 82, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Betty J. Clark, 82, North Manchester, IN died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born December 27, 1929 in Wabash County, IN to Wade H. & Ethel B. (Binkerd) Guthrie. She graduated from Central High School, North Manchester in 1947 and atteneded Manchester College.  On June 16, 1950 she married Dr. Norman L. Clark. He died January 16, 2008. Betty & Norman were married for 57 years and 7 months. She was a homemaker and a Girl Scout leader and trainer for many years in Vincennes.  She and her husband were a host family for two students from Hong Kong while they attended Vincennes University. She was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Vincennes. She is survived by one brother, Richard (Sharon) Guthrie, Goshen, IN and several nieces and nephews.  Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.  Services will be October 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th Street, North Manchester, IN. Family & friends may call one half hour prior to services.  Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.     Mildred J. Craig, 84, North Manchester, IN died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born September 11, 1928 in Dudley, IL to John & Cora (Galey) Reeley.  She graduated from Redmon (IL) High School in 1946. On July 20, 1947 she married Charles V. Craig. She was a homemaker and babysat in her home for many years.  Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart, IN and a former member of Belles & Beaus Square Dance Club, former 4-H leader and Cub Schout Den Mother.  She winterd in Pharr, TX for 22 years and faithfully attended church at Tip-O-Texas Resort. She is survived by her husband, Charles V. Craig, North Manchester, IN; three daughters, Charlotte (Peter) Ruch, North Manchester, IN, E. Anne (Rod) Ritenour, North Manchester, IN and Trish (Alan) Lauer, North Manchester, IN; one brother, Floyd Reeley, Paris, IL; seven grandchildren, Troy (Rhonda) Custer, North Manchester, IN, Todd (Heather) Custer, North Manchester, IN; Angela Custer, Nashville, TN, Anthony (Crystal) Ritenour, Louiseville, KY, Mike Ritenour, North Manchester, IN, Jason (Heather) Lauer, Huntington, IN and Dawn (Seth) Endsley, Huntington, IN and 13 great grandchildren.  Two brothers are deceased.    Family and friends may call Monday, October 1, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.   • MARTHA S. COLACE, 81, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Martha S. Colace, (born Saba Martha Smith, along with her twin sister Marjorie, on September 27, 1930) the 9th and 10th children of Leroy and Jennie Smith, passed away Friday evening, September 7, 2012 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center.  She was 81.  Martha, affectionately known as Martie to her family and friends, graduated from Manchester College in 1952 and taught elementary school in Fort Wayne for many years before marrying Andrew Colace in 1960, and moving to California to raise her own family.  Once her children were grown, Martha returned to school to get her Registered Nursing degree, and worked in a psychiatric nursing facility in southern California until she was no longer able to work or drive due to the early onset of macular degeneration.  She returned to North Manchester where she was blessed to be surrounded by family and long-time firends who were invaluable in assisting her with her needs throughout her later years.  Martha will be remembered as a patient compassionate listener, a free thinker, and one who deeply cared for her family and friends above all else- she exemplified unconditional love.  She is survived by her brother Lee Smith and sister Frances Smith Anderson, her three children Andrea, Ann-Bettina and Andrew, and her four grandchildren Dylan, Aidan, Olivia and Sofia.  A private family memorial service will be held later this Fall.  Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Martha S.   • MARY M. COE, 85, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Mary M. Coe, 85, North Manchester, IN died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center.  She was born at North Manchester, Indiana on August 18, 1926 to Rev. R.H. & Maude (Reiff) Miller.  On August 15, 1948 she married M. Gene Coe.  He died July 6, 1983.  Surviving are a son, Barry J. and Teresa Coe, Bradenton, FL and a daughter, Karen and Gary Eberly, North Manchester, IN.  Grandchildren, Britta Eberly Glass, Kyle Glass, Grant Eberly, Klancey Zubowski, Jerami Summers, Joshua Coe.  Great Grandchild, Braydon Summers.  Two grandchildren are deceased.  Mary graduated from Central High School in 1944 and earned a B.S. degree from Manchester College in 1948.  She taught Home Economics at Laketon and Deedsville High Schools from 1948-1953.  She was a homemaker and was business manager at Joyful Scribes for many years.  She was the first woman elected to the Manchester Community School Board serving from 1966-1970.  She was a member of PEO and ESA sororities and had been a nursery school teacher at Manchester Nursery School.  She was a life member and served as an officer of the Timbercrest Auxiliary, sang in the Timbercrest Choir and served as director.  She served on the founding committee of the Manchester Early Learning Center.  A life member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, she was hand bell choir director for many years and a member of the church choir.  She was also director of youth musical productions for 13 years.  She served in Christian education, was a nursery school teacher, secretary of the church board, and served on many committees and commissions.   Services will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1307 Beckley Street, North Manchester, IN.  The family will recieve friends following the service.  Pastor Kurt Borgmann will officiate and private burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.  Final care has been entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  To send a private condolence to the Coe family, use the Condolence link on the Homepage.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Mary M.
