  • J. BRYNN JERLES, 67, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    J. Brynn Jerles, 67, North Manchester, IN died at 8:34 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.  She was born at Columbus, Ohio on May 22, 1945 to James B. & Martha L. (Johnson) Jerles.  A graduate of St. Petersburg (FL) Junior College, she earned her A.A. degree in Nursing.  She later earned a B.A. degree from Indiana University and a Master's in Science from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Brynn was a Registered Nurse at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Huntington, IN for 28 years, and later at Lutheran Hospital and Dupont Hospital, both at Fort Wayne.  She loved her family, gardening, animals and the outdoors.  She always had a smile on her face and great compassion for her patients.  She attended Congregational Christian Church at North Manchester.  Surviving are a son, David J. (Shelly Leifer) Cunningham, North Manchester, IN.  Two daughters, Amanda (Jeff) Michel, North Manchester, IN and Christi (Tom) Miller, Kansas City, MO.  Six grandchildren; Chloe Leifer, Kyler Leifer, Elizabeth Michel, Skyler Michel, Zach Michel and Colten Miller.  A sister, Beth (Charlie) Janis, St. Petersburg, FL.  Her parents and one brother are deceased.  Friends and family may call on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N.   • JOSEPHINE BUMGARDNER JACKSON, 88, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Josephine Bumgardner Jackson, 88, North Manchester, Indiana died at 12:12 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN.  She was born at Kewanee, Pike County, KY to Robert & Virgie (Ray) Justice.  On May 29, 1945 she married F. Monroe Bumgardner.  He died May 24, 1986.  On January 23, 1988 she married Clint Jackson.  He died June 15, 2008.  Surviving are a son, George (Kathy) Bumgardner, Houston, TX; two daughters, Virginia (Herbert) Gunter and Sheila (Randy) Frederick, both of North Manchester, IN.  One daughter, Palma Rose Bumgardner died in 1945.  Three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Gunter, Eyota, MN; Michelle (Randy) Glover, North Manchester, IN and Kimberly Frederick, Huntington, IN.  On grandson, Jeremy Layne Gunter died in 2008.  Also surviving are two step sons; Roger Douglas, Ft. Wayne, IN and Timothy (Kathy) Jackson, Laketon, IN.  Two step daughters, Glenda (Richard) Short, Virginia and Sharon (Darrell) Hopkins, North Manchester, IN.  A sister, Jacqueline Hamilton, Wellston, OH. 15 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 step son and 1 step granddaughter.  Josephine was a homemaker and was employed for 27 years at Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, first on the sewing line and later as a night supervisor.  She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed watching TV with her special canine friend, Mattie.  Services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Tuesday, February 19 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee's.  Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.  Additional visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at J.W.     Charles "Butch" Jayne Jr., 61, Warsaw, IN and formerly of Silver Lake, IN died at 11:32 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. He was born November 26, 1950 in Warsaw, IN to Charlie & Josephine (Richardson) Jayne Sr. He attended Silver Lake and Warsaw Community Schools and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a mechanic for Clarkshaw Ford in North Carolina and Kerlin Ford Motor Co., Silver Lake, IN. He is survived by one son, Robert L. (Diana) Jayne, Disputanta, VA; two daughters, Bernice Renee Parks, Monroe, NC and Christina Marie Jayne, Bladenboro, NC;  his mother, Josephine Jayne, North Manchester, IN; three brothers, William David (Renee) Jayne, North Manchester, IN; Paul Raymond (Dawn) Jayne, Silver Lake, IN and Steven Eddie Jayne, Deetsville, AL; six sisters, Mrs. Lester (Charlotte Sue) Spangle, Silver Lake, IN, Patricia Carol Irelan, North Manchester, IN, Mrs. Fred (Linda Kay) Kling, North Manchester, IN, Mrs Scott (Jo) Leffel, North Manchester, IN, Mrs. Rick (Laurie Rose) Voss, Columbia City, IN and eight grandchildren.    Services Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Wayne, IN. She was born June 3, 1956 in Ironton, OH to Riley & Vonda (Sherman) Snell.  On November 27, 1972 she married Wetzel Justice Jr. Mary was a homemaker and worked at R.R. Donnelley, Warsaw, IN and Lances New Market, North Manchester, IN.  She attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN and loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Wetzel Justice Jr., North Manchester, IN; one son, Raymond L. Justice, Laketon, IN; two daughters, Tonya M. Justice, Laketon, IN & Jennifer A. (Bill) Proffitt, Laketon, IN; five sisters, Marilyn (Mitchell) Slagle, Jackson, OH, Ethel (Dewayne) Eakright, North Manchester, IN, Goldie Hitlaw, Fort Wayne, IN, Rhonda (Randy) Morgan, Ijamsville, IN and Joy Dennison, Fort Wayne, IN and five grandchildren.     Ruth Johnson, 83, Silver Lake, IN died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in her residence. She was born February  2, 1928 in Prestonsburg, KY to Bennie & Pauline (Flannery) Helton.  On November 11, 1946 she married Dennis B. Johnson. He died February 13, 2006.  Ruth worked at Controls, North Manchester, IN for 19 1/2 years retiring in 1993.     Lewis I. Jacobs, 95, Silver Lake, IN died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 5:45 a.m. at Heritage of Huntington Healthcare, Huntington, IN. He was born December 20, 1915 in Wabash County, IN to Sampson & Alma (Bennett) Jacobs.  On February 2, 1940 he married Martha M. Oldfather. She died December 12, 2008. He was a resident of Huntington County for many years before moving to Wabash County in 1967.  Lewis was a retired farmer.  He is survived by two sons, Michael (Kathleen) Jacobs, Huntington, IN & Sam Jacobs, Laketon, IN; one daughter, Linda (Walter) Fulton, Andrews, IN; six grandchildren & six great grandchildren. Five brothers and four sisters are deceased.   Friends and family may call Friday, January 14, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W,  North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services on Saturday.     Louise Jones, 88, North Manchester, IN departed to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 11:05 p.m. at the home of her daughter.  Because of her belief that Jesus Christ died for her sins, was buried, and rose again, Louise was assured of her home in Heaven.  She was born September 9, 1922 at Wilkes-Barre, PA to William & Sara (Edwards) Dobson.  On May 13, 1944 she married Roland R. Jones.  He died April 4, 2006.  Surviving are three daughters, Sandra (Dale) Spurbeck, Forrest Grove, OR; Sheila (Andrew) Gathany, North Manchester, IN; Sharon (James) Chaney, Englewood, CO as well as a nephew, George (Sally) Jones, Santa Cruz, CA whom she loved as her own.  A. brother, William (Charlene) Dobson, Brentwood, CA and a sister, Lenore Cooper, Walnut Creek, CA.  Louise graduated from Hanover Township (PA) High School and Wilkes-Barre (PA) General Hospital School of Nursing.  A homemaker and registered nurse, she worked at the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  She had served her church as organist, Sunday School teacher and director of the children's choir.  Services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church, 1303 State Road 13, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call at the church one hour prior to services.  Pastor Andrew Gathany will officiate and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Louise Jones, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church or the donor's choice.  To send a private condolence to the family, use the condolence link on the Homepage.

    Marcia M. Jones, 74, Silver Lake, IN died July 15, 2010 at 12:05 p.m. at Goshen General Hospital, Goshen, IN. She was born May 1, 1936 in Michigan City, IN to Sherman L. & Evelyn M. (Vincent) Mettlen. On January 8, 1955 she married Donald N. Jones. He died January 19, 2006. Marcia was a 1953 graduate of Elston High School, Michigan City, IN and a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Garry A. (Susie) Jones, Tipton, IN; one daughter, Mrs. Tony (Laurie) Caudill, Silver Lake, IN; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey N. Jones, in 1990 and one sister, Lynn Jenkins, in 1998. No calling or services are planned. She was born May 26, 1920 in Huntington, IN to George & Blanch (Bloxon) Casper. On September 3, 1938 she married Galen Judy. He died May 29, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills, IN. She is survived by one son, Jerry (Leonor) Judy, Greeley, CO; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Patti) Kiser, Provo, UT and Mrs. Phil (Gale) DeTurck, Ft.
