  • REBECCA L. FIELDS, 39, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Rebecca L. Fields, 39, North Manchester, IN passed away at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home.  She was born at Wabash, Indiana on August 24, 1973 to Robert W. & Barbara A. (Sroufe) Jester.  They survive at North Manchester.  On November 21, 1992 she married Daniel A. Fields.  He survives.  Also surviving are a son, Dallas A. Fields and a daughter, Alicia N. Fields, both at home in North Manchester.  Two sisters, Sherri K. (Randy) Adkins, North Webster, IN and Jennifer Jester, North Manchester.  A paternal grandmother, Bea (Jester) Wampler, North Manchester.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Cecil Jester, her maternal grandparents, George & Louise Sroufe, and a paternal step grandfather, Ernest Wampler.  Becky worked at Wildman Business Group, Warsaw, IN for 5 years and Manchester Community Schools for 5 years.  She graduated from Manchester High School in 1992 and was a member of Tri-Kappa.  She was co-founder of North Manchester Relay for Life, and was chairperson for 2 years.  She was a volunteer for the Manchester Recreation Association and member of Manchester Church of the Brethren.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, 306 E. Second Street, North Manchester, IN where calling will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Pastor Todd Mullins and Rev.   • DEWAYNE L. FITCH, 78, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    DeWayne L. Fitch, 78, North Manchester, IN died at 8:31 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, IN.  He was born in Polk Township, Huntington County, IN to Carl L. & Berneice M. (Garber) Fitch.  They are deceased.  He was a 1952 graduate of Andrews High School and was a past member of the I.O.O.F. at Andrews, IN.  DeWayne was employed for 27 years at Con-Agri Fertilizer in Huntington, IN, two of those years as manager.  Later, he was a salesman with Wible's Shoe Store at North Manchester, IN for 4 years.  He had been a crossing guard for Manchester Community Schools from 1997-2007 and custodian for Congregational Christian Church from 1999-2006.  On June 15, 1979 he married Bette L. (Rosen) Bechtold.  She survives.  Also surviving are three sons, Timothy L. (Cindy) Fitch, Warren, IN; Edwin J. (Lori) Fitch, Urbana, IN and Bret J. (Michelle) Bechtold, North Manchester, IN.  Three daughters, Pamela S. Taylor, Indianapolis, IN; Jane E. (Michael) Clark, North Manchester, IN and Beth R. (David) Wampler, North Manchester, IN.  Twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  One brother and one sister are deceased.  DeWayne & Bette enjoyed attending their grandchildren's activities, camping and golfing.  He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.  Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester, IN where calling will begin one hour prior to the service.  Friends and family may also call on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114W, North Manchester, IN.   Pastor J.P.   • ELAINE CHARLOTTE FRIEDEN, 84, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Elaine Charlotte Frieden, 84, North Manchester, IN died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born September 12, 1928 in North Manchester, IN to Cecil L. & Mae E. (Christman) Eiler.  Elaine was a lifelong resident of North Manchester and graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, IN class of 1946.  She married Keith D. Frieden on December 6, 1947. He is deceased.  She was a homemaker and had worked at Essex Wire, North Manchester, IN for 20 years.  Elaine was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN, Women of the Moose and a former member of Tri Kappa. She and her mother started the first firemen's auxiliary for Chester Twp. Fire Dept. Her first love was for family & friends and writing poetry. She played piano by ear and as a young girl she and her sister, Suzanne, danced and sang for the residents of Peabody Home.  She enjoyed the North Manchester Community Pool, taking trips with family, collecting antiques and horseback riding.  She loved life and never had a bad word for anybody.  She is survived by two sons, Gary S. (Theresa) Frieden, Greenfield, IN and William A. (Garnet) Frieden, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Julie (Delmer) Owens, Silver Lake, IN; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  One sister, Suzanne Miller, is deceased.  Family & friends may call Friday, April 19, 2013 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N.   • GORDON L. FERGUSON, 81, NAPERVILLE, IL

     

    Gordon L. Ferguson, age 81, of Naperville died on Friday, September 30, 2011. Gordon was born March 25, 1930 in Flora, IL to James W. Ferguson and Andella D. (Scott) Ferguson. On April 20, 1957 he married Miriam L. Neher. Upon graduating from Decatur Illinois High School, Mr. Ferguson went to work for Ford Motor Co., located in Chicago. When the Korean War started, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with Fighter Squadron 31 at Jacksonville, FL and aboard USS Midway. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended Indiana Institute of Technology in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958.He was employed by Chrysler Space Division in Huntsville, Alabama as a contract employee to NASA Marshall Space Century and was assigned to the Space Research working on Saturn Apollo launch vehicles. Mr. Ferguson attended the University of Alabama Graduate School studying Space Mechanics while in Huntsville. When the Apollo Project neared completion, he left Chrysler and went to work for Western Electric Co. in Greensboro, N.C. working on insulation engineering for Army Missile Command Safeguard Project. When the Safeguard Project was cancelled, he was transferred to Naperville, IL and was assigned to a design team at AT&T Laboratory developing electronic switching systems. He retired from AT&T in 1992. He was a life member of the VFW and held the office of District Commander, while living in Hunstville, AL. As a member of VFW Judd Kendall Post 3973 of Naperville, he served as a post officer for many years. He belonged to American Legion Post 43 of Naperville, Kiwanis Evening Club of Naperville. Mr. Ferguson was a member of Community United Methodist Church where he had been active in Methodist Men’s Group.He is survived by his wife Miriam Ferguson, Naperville, IL; son Terry of Kankakee, IL, Son Philip (Robin) of St. Joseph, IL, Son Eric (Gill) of Harrogate, England, Grandchildren Andrew, Heather, Nathan and Aaron.Brothers, Robert T. (Shirley) Ferguson of Flora, IL and Charles W.( Barbara) Ferguson of St. Charles, MO along with numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother James, sisters Barbara and Martha. Graveside service will be April 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, SR 114 W, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor Kevin DeKoninck will officiate.   • HOMER L. FRY, 85, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Homer L. Fry, 85, North Manchester, IN died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born August 24, 1927 in Clinton Township, Cass County, IN to Joseph & Maye (Cree) Fry.  On September 14, 1952 he married Rosetta I. Eller.  In 1949 he started working in a paint and wallpaper store and that continued 16 years. From 1965-1990 he was a switching equipment technician for Indiana Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T.  In 1990 both Homer & Rosetta went to Brethren Volunteer Service for over 2 years, first to San Antonio, TX and later to Fairfield, PA They have traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and much of Europe. He was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills, IN.  Homer served on the board of Weekday Religious Education of Cass County and worked in child care at disaster scenes from 1988-2004 as a service of the Church of  the Brethren. He was a Timbercrest volunteer, working in the gift shop, driving residents to medical appointments and serving as a Stephen Minister.  He was a lifetime member of Friends of Timbercrest.  He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Fry, North Manchester, IN; two sons, Ken (Dotty) Fry, Wabash, IN & Mike (Sharon) Fry, Eaton, IN; one daughter, Cindy (James) Ritter, near Muncie, IN; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One grandchild, four brothers and three sisters are deceased.     Esther P. Frantz, 84, North Manchester, IN died at 6:22 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 in Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born July 21, 1928 in Wabash County, IN to Aaron D. & Mabel F. (Metzger) Greer.  She graduated from Chester High School in 1946. Esther was a homemaker and had been an inspector at the former Bryan Manufacturing and United Technology at North Manchester, IN. She attended Victory Christian Fellowship Church, North Manchester, IN. On June 15, 1947 she married Robert L. Frantz. He survives. She is also survived by one son, Brent Frantz, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Marlene (Andy) Pletcher, Plymouth, IN; three sisters, Dorothy Wagoner, Gladys Fingerle and Deloris Walters all of North Manchester, IN; two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  Three brothers, Everett Greer, Donald Greer and Galen Greer are deceased.   Family & Friends may call Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Service will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 12:00 noon at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Pasor Tim Morbitzer will officiate.     Jesus Flores, 9 hours old, North Manchester, IN died at 12:47 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 in Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born at 3:41 a.m. November 12, 2012 in Huntington, IN to Lino & Becky (Adams) Flores who survive in North Manchester, IN.  In addition to his parents he is survived by one sister, Karla Flores, North Manchester, IN; maternal grandparents, Dyrs & Eva (Adams) Owens, Silver Lake, IN; paternal grandparents, Raquel Flores and Javier Lopez, Aguascalientes, Mexico.     Helen A. French, 99, North Manchester, IN died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at her residence. She was born February 25, 1913 in Elwood, IN to Harley B. & Emma Julia (Smoak) Greene. She graduated from Kokomo (IN) High School in 1931. Helen was a homemaker and member of South Pleasant United Methodist Church, Silver Lake, IN and United Methodist Women. On February 25, 1933 she married Woodrow A. L. French. He died February 18, 1992. She is survived by two sons, Danny (Mary) French, Warsaw, IN and Lonnie (Becky) French, North Manchester, IN; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Judith Helen Murphy) Poel, Boyne City, MI and Mrs. Haskins (Joyce Lynn) Kashima, Baltimore, MD; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.  Family and friends may call Friday, October 12, 2012 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.     Devona M. Farley, 86, North Manchester, IN died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center.  She was born in Monroe Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana on July 19, 1926 to Walter V. & Agnes (Hardman) Warner.  She graduated from Sidney High School in 1944 and on April 7, 1946 she married Russell Farley Jr.  He died March 14, 2012.  De retired in 1991 after 23 years as secretary to the superintendent of Whitko School Corporation.  Surviving are a son, Blaine W. (Becky) Farley, Fishers, IN and a daughter, Linda (George) Geaugh, Pierceton, IN.  Five grandchildren, Darren Geaugh, Ft. Wayne, IN; Melissa Mishler, Columbia City, IN; Krysten Farley, Chicago, IL; Michael Farley, Fishers, IN and David VanWinkle, Fishers, IN.  Also surviving are two great grandchildren and a brother, Maurice (Janyth) Warner, Pierceton, IN.  One brother is deceased.  She was a member of the Missionary Church at North Manchester.  Services and calling will be private.  Pastor Dan Binkley will officiate.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.  Arrangements are entruated to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Devona Farley, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6415 Castleway W.     Carole Jean Fant, 77, North Manchester, IN died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012 in her residence. She was born November 10, 1934 in Wabash County, IN to Lozier A. & Doris M. (Meinert) Burr. She was a 1952 graduate of Central High School, North Manchester, IN. Carole worked in the ticket office at Baer Field Airport, Fort Wayne, IN and later at Bryan Manufacturing, North Manchester, IN and Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. She was a member of American legion Auxiliary 286, North Manchester, IN and former member of the Women of the Moose, North Manchester, IN.  She is survived by two nieces and five nephews.  One brother and one sister are deceased.  No calling or services are planned.
