  • MICHAEL D. AUGHINBAUGH, 59, N. MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Michael D. Aughinbaugh, 59, North Manchester, IN died at 9:24 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born February 18, 1953 to Duane & Melva (Fultz) Piper.  On November 20, 1970 he married Virginia L. Keirn.  She survives.  Also surviving are Duane (Joyce) Piper, North Manchester, IN.  His mother, Melva Gilbert, North Manchester, IN.  A son, Bob (Tiann) Aughinbaugh, Huntington, IN; a daughter, Michelle (Troy) Wilcoxson, Columbia City, IN.  Four grandchildren.  One brother, Steve Aughinbaugh, Texas; two sisters, Kris Marshall and Kay Aughinbaugh, both of North Manchester, IN.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Aughinbaugh.  Mike was a heating and cooling contractor and had been a fire truck driver for North Manchester Fire Department and Chester Township Fire Department.  He also served as a volunteer firefighter with those departments.  He was an avid outdoorsman and a John Wayne fan.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the church.  Pastor J.P.   • EMMA LOU ALLEN, 91, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Emma Lou Allen, 91, North Manchester, IN died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at her residence in Peabody Retirement Community.  She was born in Wabash County, Indiana on July 28, 1921 to Bruce & Mildred (Barnett) Meyer.  On December 24, 1939 she married Harold L. Allen.  He died October 7, 1995.  Emma Lou was a 1939 graduate of Chester High School, member of the 39er's Club, WW II Mothers, and attended Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, IN.  She was employed at Eaton Controls, North Manchester from 1959-1985.  Surviving are two sons, Robert Allen and Danny Joe (Willodean) Allen, both of North Manchester, IN.  Two daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Janice) Wood, Claypool, IN and Saundra Hoagland, Warsaw, IN.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two sisters, Eleanor Winger, North Manchester, IN and Rosemary Lynch, Silver Lake, IN.  Services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Saturday, December 1, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Pastor J.P.     Merle V. Alderfer, 84, Laketon, IN died at 8:38 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in his residence.  He was born March 6, 1928 in Richland Center, IN to Carl M. and Ruth J. (Ault) Alderfer.  On October 18, 1950 he married Julia M. Coleman.  He was a retired asphalt road construction worker retiring from Rieth-Riley Asphalt, Fort Wayne, IN,  He was a member of Operator Engineer Union #103, Fort Wayne, IN, a life member and past Governor of Moose Lodge #1518, North Manchester, IN and life member of Tippecanoe Fellowship #96.  He is survived by his wife, Julia Alderfer, Laketon, IN; one son, Jack L. Alderfer, Servia, IN; four daughters, Pamela Bowman, North Manchester, IN, Brenda (Larry) Weaver, Goshen, IN, Tammie (Robert) Funk, Akron, IN and Susie Elliott, Syracuse, IN; two brothers, Howard Alderfer, Warsaw, IN and Wayne Alderfer, Cromwell, IN; Three sisters, Mary Bruce, Mentone, IN, Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Thompson, Mentone, IN and Mrs. Don (Phyllis) Shuster, Laporte, IN; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  Five brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild are deceased.  Friends and family may call Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.  Services will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor J.   • RONALD LEE ARNETT, 48, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Ronald Lee Arnett, 48, North Manchester, IN died at 12:11 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. He was born June 7, 1963 in Wabash, IN to Kernie & Rhoda (Whitaker) Arnett.  He had worked at Warsaw Foundry and later was a truck driver for Air Worx, Warsaw, IN until becoming disabled in an accident in 2009.  He was an avid pool player, enjoyed the guitar and was a woodworker, collector of antiques and liked garage sales.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1518, North Manchester and Sons of the American Legion Squadron #286.  On April 26, 1990 he married Lavonne McDaniel.  She survives.  He is also survived by his parents, Kernie & Rhoda Arnett, North  Manchester, IN; three daughters, Erin Arnett, Amy Arnett and Alexys Arnett all of North Manchester, IN; two brothers, Randy Arnett, North Manchester, IN and Robert Arnett, South Whitley, IN; three sisters, Carolyn (Frank) Holden, Westfield, IN; Lois (Daivd) Wise, North Manchester, IN and Rhonda Fruitt, North Manchester, IN; and one grandson, Zachary Owens.  Family and friends may call Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at  McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.   Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  To send a private condolence to the Arnett family, use the condolence link on the Homepage.

    Shirley France Adkins, 61, North Manchester, IN died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Autumn Ridge Rehabilitaion Center, Wabash, IN.  She was born August 9, 1950 in Rochester, IN to Robert & Nina (Putman) France Sr.  She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, North Manchester, IN.  Shirley is survived by two brothers, Robert France Jr., Jacksonville, FL and Jerry Newman, North Manchester, IN; her step-mother, Ila Vay France, Wabash, IN and several nieces & nephews. Graveside services will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Frances Slocum Cemetery, Somerset, IN. Pastor Karla Akins will officiate.   • RODNEY D. AZBELL, 48, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Rodney D. Azbell, 48, North Manchester, IN died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 in his residence.  He was born at Wabash, Indiana on August 11, 1962 to Merrill & Grace (Manns) Azbell.  They survive at North Manchester.  In 1985 he married Lisa Sandberg.  They divorced.  Surviving along with his parents are a son, Brigham D. Azbell, Wabash, IN; a daughter, Danielle (Derek) Shenefield, Wabash, IN.  One brother, Steven A. Azbell, Laketon, IN and a sister, Teresa A. Miller, Ft. Wayne, IN.  A grandchild also survives.  Rod was a 1981 graduate of Northfield High School.  During and after high school, he was employed at Brodbeck Seeds, Wabash, IN.  He then owned and operated Newlook Lawn Care, Wabash, IN for seven years.  From 2004-2008 he was employed in the maintenence department at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester.  He enjoyed woodworking and metal working.  He was a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester.  Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Brethren Church, 407 N.   • MARVIN O. ARMEY, 90, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Marvin O. Armey, 90, North Manchester, IN died at 5:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center. He was born July 11, 1920 in Cleveland Township, Whitley County, IN to Ora & Grace (Snell) Armey. He served 4 years in the Army, Company H, First Infantry, WWII. On December 1, 1956 he married Florence Bessie (Shotts) Nutter. He retired in 1986 from United Technologies-Essex Wire after 40 years service.  He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, loved to spend time with his wife and family, tinker around his home and be outside doing yard work or in his garage. He is survived by his wife, Florence Armey, North Manchester, IN; one step daughter, Frieda Good, North Manchester, IN; six grandchildren, Debbie (Dennis) Coe, Jerry (Patty) Good, Carrie (John) Boyd, Clint (Beth) Wilson, Jennifer Good & Jessica Wilson; twenty great grandchildren, Lindsay & David Coe, Devin & Alex Good, Chelsay Good, Cody Meeks, Brittany, Dustin, Dillon, Nick & Chris Boyd, Ashleigh, Destiny & Dakota Wilson, Joseph & Robert Clemons, Dameon & Caleb Conn, Lexi Stripling & Kenneth Gainer Jr.; and three great great granchildren.  Two sons, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters are deceased.   Friends and family may call Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.   • JOAN FLETCHER ADDINGTON, 83 NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Joan Fletcher Addington, 83, North Manchester, IN formerly of Muncie, IN died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 1:35 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born April 12, 1927 in Winchester, IN to Francis & Christina (Martin) McCollum.  She graduated from Winchester (IN) High School and Ball State University, Muncie, IN.  She retired from teaching after 28 years having taught kindergarten and first grade at Selma, IN. On October 4, 1946 she married Robert Paul Fletcher. He died July 25, 1994. She then married Orvah Keith Addington on August 10, 2002. He died May 17, 2010. Joan was a member of the Liberty-Perry Retired Teachers Association. She was very creative and artistic and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ.  She is survived by one son, Douglas (Leisa) Fletcher, North Manchester, IN; two daughters, Kathy (Marc) Peretz, Midland, MI and Robin (Don) Johnson, Hartford City, IN; one sister, Carolyn Burton, Austin, TX; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Services will be Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN 46962. Friends and family may call Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN.   Pastor Ladona Webb will officiate.     Betty J. Applegate, 79, North Manchester, IN died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 2:37 a.m. in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN.  She was born September 25, 1931 in Wabash, IN to Fred L. & Pearl (Warfield) King. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1949. On February 14, 1950 she married David E. Applegate. He died March 1, 1992.  Betty retired in 1997 from United Technologies, North Manchester, IN after 27 years of service.  She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #286, North Manchester, IN and enjoyed country music, the outdoors and spending time with her family.  She is survived by four sons, Micheal E. Applegate, Springfield, OH, David W. Applegate, North Manchester, IN, Rick A. (Kay Aughinbaugh) Applegate, North Manchester, IN and Robert L. (Diann) Applegate, North Manchester, IN; two daughters, Belinda Rose Klemann,Warsaw, IN and Debbie J. (Richard) Brooks, Warren, IN; one step son, David E.   • GEORGE A. AIRGOOD, 90, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    George A. Airgood, 90, North Manchester, IN died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. He was born north of Servia, IN on December 15, 1919 to C. Gordon & Cora (Aughinbaugh) Airgood. He spent his first six years in Wabash. In 1925, he moved with his parents to the farm north of Servia where he spent his earlier years helping his father and neighbors with the farming. He attended Servia School and graduated from Chester High School in 1937. On February 7, 1942 he married Virginia R. Fleck.  George was a farmer all his life except for a few years testing cows for the DHIA. In 1984 he retired from farming to a small orchard south of Servia. In 1998 he and Virginia moved to Peabody Retirement Community.  He was a lifelong member of the New Hope (formerly Servia) United Church of Christ, holding many offices and becoming an ordained deacon. George was a member and past president of North Manchester Lions Club for over 55 years and was active in promoting and producing their fish fry. He was a member of the ABC for Wabash County.  George is survived by his wife, Virginia Airgood, North Manchester, IN; one son, Dick R. (Dee) Airgood, Greenfork, IN; one daughter, Sally (Robert) Gamsby, Wabash, IN; one brother, Tom Airgood, North Manchester, IN; one sister, Gladys Airgood, North Manchester, IN; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. One son, one brother and one grandchild are deceased. Services Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. Seventh Street, North Manchester, IN.
